MAKE A DIFFERENCE
When entrepreneurs are flat out managing a growing company, taking time to enter a competition such as the Telstra Business Awards can seem like a luxury. Jordan Walsh disagrees, saying that no matter whether you win or not the process is invaluable. “When people deal with us they know they’re dealing with a quality organisation. Not winning it does not have negative connotations but winning it definitely has positive connotations. The PR you get is massive and the brand awareness that comes out of it is significant and really beneficial, if not always quantifiable.” So put yourself out there, says Jordan — but make sure you’re doing it in the right spirit: “Just like you should go to networking functions not to get work but to meet people who can help you be a better person, don’t enter an awards competition to win an award. Do it for the purpose of being a better business.” |
